Questions from the record box
What a transfer can do, and what depends on the original.
Can you recover every damaged cassette?
No. Damage, mould or a deteriorated carrier may require specialist conservation, and some sound may not be recoverable. We discuss condition before ordinary playback rather than promising recovery from every tape.
Will all crackles and background noise disappear?
Not necessarily. Noise can be part of the source, and removing it can affect the wanted sound. Any editing is discussed separately. The capture is not presented as a guarantee of studio-quality restoration.
May I transfer a commercially released record?
Only where you have the rights or permission required for the proposed use. We do not authorise copying or distribution on your behalf. Explain the material and intended use before the job is accepted.
Which audio file format will I receive?
We agree a format based on the source and the devices you want to use. A higher-resolution label cannot create detail absent from the recording. Naming, side divisions and delivery arrangements are confirmed with the scope.
Do you publish family recordings online?
No. A personal transfer does not imply permission to publish the material. You control how the delivered files are stored or shared, and any separate sharing arrangement needs its own authorisation.
