01

Cassette transfers

Capture suitable cassette recordings through an agreed playback and file workflow.

We identify the cassette type, visible condition and any known playback problems before arranging a transfer. A tape that appears mouldy, damaged or unusually tight is not treated as an ordinary playback job. Specialist conservation may be needed before it can be safely approached.

The agreed scope covers the playable material, file format and how separate sides or sessions will be named. Some recordings have silence, dropouts or changes in level that belong to the source. A transfer makes that source more accessible; it does not guarantee that missing or badly damaged sound can be recovered.

Vinyl listening copies

Create an agreed digital listening copy from a suitable record you are entitled to reproduce.

Record condition, speed and playback setup influence the capture. We discuss visible wear, the number of sides and the intended listening format. A suitable cleaning approach and equipment settings are considered before playback, without assuming every mark can be removed.

You must have the rights or permission required for the proposed copy. We do not provide a route for unauthorised distribution of commercial recordings. Audible surface noise and distortion can remain where they are part of the source; optional editing is discussed as a separate, bounded decision.

File naming & listening handover

Organise agreed audio files so they can be found and played again.

A folder full of unnamed tracks can be almost as difficult to navigate as a box of tapes. We agree a naming structure using the information you can confirm: date, side, event or a simple sequence. Uncertain details are not presented as established recording history.

The handover explains the chosen formats, folder structure and a sensible backup approach. Device compatibility should be checked against the device you intend to use. Long-term storage, cloud accounts and sharing permissions remain under your control. We do not retain an online public collection of private recordings.
